Iris pseudata ‘Benibutae’

Iris pseudata 'Benibutae' (poetically translated from Japanese as "Double Eyelid of Rouge") is a spectacular, rare aquatic hybrid originally bred by Hiroshi Shimizu and registered by Carol S. Warner in 2015. Discovered from a cross between the Pseudata variety 'Gubijin' and mixed Japanese Iris (Iris ensata) pollen, it is highly distinct for being one of the few varieties that pairs rich burgundy-purple flowers with striking variegated foliage. Like all Pseudata cultivars, it is entirely sterile and non-invasive, making it safe for pond and wetland cultivation
